29 Mar PowerWomen Exhibition is now opened
The PowerWomen Exhibition in Museum Vlaardingen, the Netherlands opened on International Women’s Day and people can visit it until June 24, 2024.
The official opening took place in front of a large audience in the museum’s hall where several power women gave speeches.
“There is still a lot of inequality between men and women”, was the conclusion. “Let’s not forget that there is still a lot of misogyny. Let’s therefore remain alert and vigilant.”
The exhibition aims to bring women of Vlaardingen out of the shadow of their fishing history. All power women in the exhibition, showcased in a vibrant pink framing, are being introduced in various subfields such as art, sports, science, entrepreneurship and politics.
I had the privilege to meet former judo champion and women’s judo national coach Marjolein van Unen who is one of the PowerWomen of Vlaardingen. She has won, among other achievements, 4 World Championship medals, 3 European Championships, and 6 national titles. Under her leadership, the Dutch women’s judo team has won 6 Olympic medals.
The PowerWomen exhibition is a fun overview with bright pink colors and inspiring stories that celebrate the remarkable achievements and contributions of women throughout Vlaardingen’s history and beyond.
